Wayne E. Thibaut

Wayne E. Thibaut, 87, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Marion General Hospital after courageously fighting a battle with cancer.

Wayne was born Dec. 4, 1935, in Marion, the son of Millard and Ruth (Jacobs) Thibaut. Shortly after he was born, his family moved out to Arizona for a short period, then moved back to Ohio to reside in Toledo. He graduated from Toledo Whitmer High School in 1954.

Wayne was introduced to his soulmate, Carol (Colwell) Thibaut, through mutual friends shortly after Carol finished nursing school and was working in Tiffin. Wayne and Carol enjoyed 65 marvelous years together. They were members of First Church of the Nazarene for more than 30 years. He was also was a part of a men's prayer group at the church. Wayne worked as a foreman for Whirlpool, then went home to work on his farm.

Wayne had an incredible worth ethic that he passed down to his children and grandchildren. He loved spending time and supporting his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Wayne and Carol enjoyed camping and traveling to Fort Myers, Florida.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Carol Ann (Colwell) Thibaut; sons, Scott (Jerri) Thibaut and Brad (Linda) Thibaut; grandchildren, Michelle (Brendan) Wampler, Melissa (Kyle) Hughes, Rachel (Nich) Stelzer, and Kyle (Efe) Thibaut; great-grandchildren, Ava, Hayden, and Bryson; and nephews, Randy, Chris, and Vaughn.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Richard Thibaut.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Snyder Funeral Homes, Denzer Chapel, 360 E. Center Street, Marion, Ohio, 43302. Wayne's funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with David Gossard officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio State James Cancer Research Center.
