Virginia Mae Elchert

Virginia Mae Elchert, 90, of Burgoon, passed away at 4:10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at St. Francis Home, Tiffin.

She was born Aug. 15, 1932, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to the late William and Elizabeth (Hall) DeGalan. She married Alvin Frankart on May 30, 1963, and he preceded her in death Sept. 27, 1963. She then married Lawrence "Larry" Elchert on Aug. 20, 1971, and he survives in Burgoon.

Also surviving is a daughter, Mary Ann Elchert of Fremont. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Clabaugh; brother, Robert DeGalan; two half-brothers, William Jr. and Edward DeGalan; and two half-sisters, Dorothy Jensen and Mary Distel.

Virginia was a 1952 graduate of Calvert High School. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Millersville, and its Rosary-Altar Society. Virginia worked at Fostoria's Kroger store for 26 years and enjoyed selling Avon products, making crafts, and visiting craft shows and flea markets.

Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44830, with Virginia's funeral at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Thomas Varghese presiding. Burial will follow at St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery. A luncheon will then take place at Trinity Chapel.

Memorials are suggested to Calvert Catholic Schools Educational Foundation, St. Francis Home, Tiffin, or donor's choice.
