William Cook Obituary

William "Bill" Cook

William "Bill" Cook, 77, of Fostoria, passed away peacefully Monday, April 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay. He was born March 21, 1948, in Noblesville, Indiana, to the late Joseph V. & Marthella L. (Hicks) Cook Jr. Bill married Jackie Bateson on February 26, 1995, in Risingsun.

Surviving Bill are his loving wife of 30 years, Jackie; children, Krista (Jim) Hovis of Kansas, Danielle (David) Schalk of Fostoria, and Matt (Liz) Schultz of Fremont; sister, Marcia Bello of Findlay; grandchildren, Alexandra (Derek) Hay, Andrew (Bree) Hovis, Benjamin (Alyssa Duvall) Hovis, Molly Schalk, and Lilly Schalk; great-grandchildren, Addison, Mallory, Hudson, Bonnie, and Vivian; nephews and nieces, Joe (Ginger) Bello, and Joey (Jamie) Bello; and two furry companions, Rosie & Lucy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Marthella.

Bill was a 1966 graduate of Green Springs High School and then served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a 173rd Airborne Paratrooper. He retired from BP after working many years as a maintenance supervisor. Bill was a member of Scott Trinity United Methodist Church, Green Springs American Legion, and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Among his many hobbies over the years, he enjoyed traveling, spending time at the lake, skydiving, was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and attended many spring trainings. His greatest love of all, though, was spending time with his family and attending all of his grandchildren's sporting and academic events.

Friends will be received from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, where a Celebration of Life Memorial Service will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Marla Brown officiating. Military honors will be performed by AMVETS Honor Detail. Bill's family requests for everyone to dress in Cleveland Indians attire.

Memorial donations may be made to Scott Trinity United Methodist Church or Flag City Honor Flight.
