Scott E. Basinger

Scott Eric Basinger, 60, of Fostoria, passed away Monday, Dec. 25, 2023, at The Ohio State University Hospital.

He was born Jan. 31, 1963, in Fostoria, to Lawrence and Clara (Iler) Basinger. He first married Lisa Basinger and later divorced. In 2011, he married Gina McClellan.

He is survived by his wife, Gina; children, Amber Basinger of Columbus, Cory Basinger of Fostoria, Paige (Skyler) Roberts of Fredricksburg, Virginia, and Danielle McClellan and Hailey (Adam) Hill, both of Fostoria; brother, John (Sherry) Basinger of Fostoria; sister, Bonnie Basinger of Fostoria; and grandchildren, Alivia, Brooklyn, Phoebe, Walker, and Scarlett.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Tom Basinger.

Scott worked as a fireman for the City of Fostoria. He retired July 1, 2017. Throughout his career, he was captain, lieutenant, and chief for the Fostoria Fire Department. Scott was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a graduate of Fostoria High School. Scott loved camping and working on cars. He was very handy and always tinkering with something. Most importantly, Scott was very family-oriented and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Scott's funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with Pastor Jerry Copeland officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Fostoria United Veterans. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at the funeral home.
