Omar DeLaRosa Obituary

Omar B. DeLaRosa

Omar B. DeLaRosa, 64, of Fostoria, passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2023, at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, surrounded by his family.

He was born Nov. 20, 1959, in Fostoria to Pedro "Pete" and Frances (Reyes) DeLaRosa Sr. He married Darlene Nye on March 21, 1997, in Tiffin.

Omar is survived by his wife, Darlene DeLaRosa of Fostoria; mother, Frances DeLaRosa of Fostoria; children, Omar (Kelly) DeLaRosa Jr. of Arcadia, Sasha DeLaRosa of Hilliard, Dalton DeLaRosa of Fostoria, Kelly Mendoza of Fostoria, and Mandy Mendoza of Blacklick; grandchildren, Tristen, Kayden, Antonio, Austin, Selena, Mariyah, Lasea, Scarlette, Giavonni, Camilla, and Dominic; brothers, Pedro DeLaRosa Jr. of Fostoria and John A. DeLaRosa of Fostoria; sisters, Mary A. (Daniel) Stewart of Fostoria, Celia D. (Dennis) Herr of Fostoria, and Anna M. (Earl White) DeLaRosa of Fostoria; and sister-in-law, Dawn DeLaRosa of Fostoria.

He was preceded in death by his father, Pedro DeLaRosa Sr.; son, Dusty Hick; infant brother, Pedro; and brother, Mario L. DeLaRosa.

Omar attended St. Wendelin Elementary School and graduated from Fostoria High School in 1978. He then served in U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division. He attended St. Wendelin Catholic Church and was employed by Home Depot in Van Buren.

Omar was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan. He loved to fish, make benches, drag racing, and took pride in his backyard with all the flowers he planted. He coached baseball many years for Fostoria City League. He was the life of every party with his jokes and sense of humor.

He fought a long, hard battle with cancer. Special thank you to Dr. Memmott and her staff at Brain & Spine Hospital and everyone who took great care of him at The James Cancer Center this past month.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023, at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44830. Please dress casual and Omar would have liked Browns attire.

A celebration of Omar's life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023, at the funeral home with Deacon Alfredo Diaz presiding. Committal services will follow at Veteran's Memorial Chapel of Fountain Cemetery, where military honors will be provided by United Veterans of Fostoria Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions are suggested to The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, Columbus, or charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.

You will be missed. God bless you. Always a pleasure to be around you. Always cheerful no matter what circumstances. Always funny and great to be around. What a wonderful person. I love you. The earth lost an angel in you. But the heavens gained another good faithful servant.
