Lowell "Pete" Shrider

Lowell "Pete" Shrider, 92, passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, in Summerfield, Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; two daughters, Judi Shrider Pfancuff of Orange Village, Ohio, and Peggy Shrider Ross of Reston, Virginia; two sons, Steve Shrider of Massillon and Tim Shrider of Canton; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pete was vocational director and assistant principal at Massillon Washington High School from 1967-1988. He also worked tirelessly in support of the levy to build the new high school in 1988. Prior to that, he taught vocational classes at Bucyrus, Lakota, and Carey High Schools.

He was born June 24, 1930, on South Bass Island. The family moved to Fostoria in 1937 and he graduated from Fostoria High School, class of 1948. He served in the U.S. Navy and earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Bowling Green State University. Pete and Jan have been longtime Massillon Tiger and Ohio State football fans.

They both became and remained avid golfers upon their retirement to Stonecrest in Summerfield in 1996. Pete died one month shy of their 70th wedding anniversary.

He will be interred at Florida National Cemetery at Bushnell.
