Leah Jean Hipsher, 89, of Fostoria, passed away at 11:03 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.

She was born Jan. 23, 1933, in Wyandot County, to the late Arlis and Fern (Wagner) Orians. She married Willard Hipsher Jr. and they divorced.

Surviving are her four sons, Michael (Charlotte) Hipsher of Hudson, Wisconsin, Jay (Dawn) Hipsher of Findlay, Douglas (Karen) Hipsher of Kansas, and Ronald (Lynn) Hipsher of Fostoria; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Dwight (Virginia) Orians of Carey, Patricia (Richard) Snook of Carey, Rex (Nancy) Orians of Findlay, Nondus Doe of Carey, Keith (Lynda) Orians of North Baltimore, and Doneta (Coy) Druckemiller of Carey. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Lyle, Jerry, and Dennis Orians; and sisters, Lorinda Luzader and Mary Jane Orians.

Leah was the salutatorian of her 1951 Carey High School class. She was a waitress at Club Azar, Covered Wagon, and Black Cat, and also had worked at RCA, Findlay, and retired from Honeywell, Fostoria, after 21 years of service.

Leah owned and operated Black Cat restaurant in Fostoria from 1981-1998. She also owned and operated Point Drive-In, Carey, in the mid-80s. She was always giving to her community and some of her accomplishments and involvements included 1988, 1989, and 1998 Woman of the Year of Fostoria Business and Professional Women, 1994 Chairperson of the Glass Heritage Festival, 2003 Distinguished member of Ohio Business and Professional Women, Supporting Fostoria Community Hero 2008, and Seneca County Red Cross Community Impact 2011.

Of all her accomplishments, Leah was proudest of raising her four sons and the love she shared with her siblings and grandchildren. She was passionate about attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events. She was an avid and competitive card player whether it be bridge, poker, or euchre. Leah was hard working, she sacrificed, was faith-filled, community minded, pro-Fostoria, and an unending volunteer. She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and for many years organized the festival garage sale.
