Kathleen Kay Hengsteler

Kathleen Kay Hengsteler, 77 of Arcadia, passed away Monday, February 23, 2026.

She was born in Bluffton, Ohio, to the late Leonard C. and Madge (Marshall) McIntosh, November 28, 1948. Kathleen married Daniel D. Monday in 1967 and later divorced.

She married David L. Hengsteler, August 27, 1976, in Arcadia, and he survives. She is also survived by four children, Jonathon M. (Michelle) Hengsteler, Arcadia, Michael S. (Laure) Hengsteler, Archbold, Aris D. Johnson, Johnsburg Illinois, and Kimberly J. (Chief Master Sergeant, retired, John) Proniewicz, Arcadia; grandchildren, Ashley J. Hengsteler and Bailey A. (David) Crouch, both of Arcadia, Evan S. Hengsteler, Ethan T. Hengsteler, and Steven T. Hengsteler, all of Toledo, Samantha R. Varner, Lakewood, Lexi M. Giesige, Fremont, Hunter W. Apt and Devon M. Apt, both of Archbold, Elizabeth (Jordan) Kippur, Pueblo Colorado, Cooper H. Johnson and Nessa S. Johnson, both of Johnsburg Illinois, Ethan D. (Chelsea) VanDerVeer, Arcadia, Tristan M. Proniewicz and Alexander E. Proniewicz, both of Valrico Florida; and eight great-grandchildren, Nora Lee Rose Snowden, Arcadia, Jackson D. VanDerVeer, Julian E. VanDerVeer, and Juniper J. VanDerVeer, all of Arcadia, Dallas R. Stoll and Jersey J. Ruffing, both of Fremont, Brinley G. Apt and Sawyer W. Apt, both of Archbold. Mrs. Hengsteler is also survived by her sister, Janice Wilson of Florida; brothers, Michael (Diana) McIntosh and James L. McIntosh of Findlay; and sister-in-law, Barbara McIntosh of Findlay.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Ernest H. McIntosh; sister-in-law, Nancy McIntosh; and grandchild, Carter L. Hengsteler.

Kathi graduated from Findlay High School and attended University of Toledo. As well as being a farm wife, she worked at a variety of jobs throughout the years, most notably as a legal secretary, a staff writer and the lifestyles editor for the Review Times in Fostoria, and an editor of the Sunset Gazette. She was a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Hancock County for several years. She served as an Arcadia Village council member and was the first woman to serve as Mayor of the Village of Arcadia.

She founded the Hancock County Mayors' Association. Later in life, she became deeply involved in her church, East Mt. Zion United Methodist, and was a member of Arcadia Lions Club, where she served as secretary for many years. She also served as treasurer for the Hancock County Business and Professional Women and as president of the Findlay Legal Secretaries Association.

Visitation for Kathleen will be from 3-7 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2026, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Her funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, with Pastor Dave Noel officiating. Burial will follow at Knollcrest Cemetery, east of Findlay.

Memorial contribu-tions can be made in memory of Kathleen to Arcadia Lions Club.
