Karen Regina Snyder

Karen R. Snyder, 81, of San Diego, California, passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, at her home.

She was born July 15, 1942, in Fremont, the beloved daughter of Regina and Howard Snyder. Karen was raised in Fostoria and attended St. Wendelin Catholic School before continuing her education at Bowling Green State University with a degree in education. Following her passion for teaching, Karen taught elementary school at El Cajon School District for many years. She was a long-time member of St. Brigid Parish in San Diego. She was an avid bicyclist and enjoyed traveling with her sisters. Her love of the ocean kept her in the same home on Mission Beach for most of her life.

She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her sister, Julie Fant (Claude) of Hamilton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Snyder; sisters, Marilyn Ziegman (Jack) and Joan Gillig; Godson, David Fant; niece, Molly (Ziegman) Michney; and life partner, Andy Andresen.

Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, at St. Brigid Catholic Parish in San Diego.

I can remember when I was 5 or 6 years old, living on Walnut Street and aunt Karen babysat. We sat on the porch swing while it was getting dark and she would tell ghost stories. I remember her vivid imagination and her ability to create imagery with her storytelling. I wish her a graceful transition into the next life...
