Joe Diebley

Joe Diebley, 90, of West Independence, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

He was born Nov. 27, 1933, in West Independence, the son of Harold and Bernice (Myers) Diebley. He married Christine Carroll on Nov. 27, 1957, and they celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Joe's survivors include his wife; daughter, Lisa Hutton; grandchildren, Kelly and Lauren Hutton; and great-granddaughter, Peyton Hutton, all of West Independence.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Gregg and Joe Ellis Diebley; brothers, William and John Diebley; and sister, Dorla Walter.

Joe was a 1951 graduate of Arcadia High School. He then graduated from Tiffin University in 1958 and served his country in U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He served for eight years on Arcadia High School Board of Education, was a farmer, and was employed at Cooper Tire and Rubber Company for 33 years, where he was the first employee of the year in 1985. He retired in 1989. Joe and his brother, Bill, owned Diebley Brothers Drainage for many years. Joe was a member of West Independence Church, serving on various committees and was a Flag City Honor Flight attendee in 2015.

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024, and 10 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, until the time of Joe's service at 11 a.m., all at West Independence Church, 22876 US-224, Fostoria. Pastor Ben Wallick will officiate. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Cancer Patient Service or the church.
