Joanne Reinhart Obituary

Joanne M. Reinhart

Joanne M. Reinhart, 96, of Fostoria, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.

She was born Sept. 16, 1928, in Fostoria, to Florian J. and Emma (Brickner) Frankart Sr. She grew up on a rural farm and remembered doing chores, milking cows, and feeding the horses. She graduated from St. Wendelin High School in 1946 and then married John S. Reinhart, a longtime neighbor and friend, on Feb. 10, 1948, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. John preceded her in death Feb. 18, 2008.

Joanne was most proud of her family. She said "my children, they mean the world to me!" She is survived by Robert J. (Dianne) Reinhart, Richard R. (Bernadette) Reinhart, Gary J. (Barbara) Reinhart, Diana M. (Craig) Holman, and Renee M. (Phil Newkirk) Whitta, all of Fostoria; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Credora Meyer, Lucille Hammer, Florian Frankart Jr., and infant sister, Dorothy Frankart.

Joanne loved being a wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially cookies, which her children especially liked. She always had a huge garden and spent a lot of time canning and preserving all the fruits and vegetables. She and John enjoyed traveling and visiting places including Branson, Renfro Valley, and the Amish country. They loved square dancing and she enjoyed singing and listening to big band music. Joanne was a devout Catholic, longtime member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and its Rosary-Altar Society, the Catholic Ladies of Columbia, and New Riegel American Legion Auxiliary where she played many euchre games.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the loving and caring staff of Good Shepherd Home for their care of Joanne.

Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44830, where a Vigil will be at 4:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Poggemeyer presiding. She will then be laid to rest next to John at St. Wendelin Cemetery. A funeral luncheon will then be served at St. Wendelin Parish Hall.
