Janie Lee (Davis) Beard

Janie Lee (Davis) Beard died Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

Janie was born July 4, 1959, in Fostoria, to Saundra Knisely Smith who survives along with her stepfather, Gregory A Smith. She married Samuel W Beard on June 20, 1980, and he survives. They were blessed with three children, Daniel K, Nicholas A, and Mark A.

Janie is also survived by her twin sister, Jamie (Timothy) Hatfield of Fostoria; sisters, Joni (Richard) Frederick of Fostoria and Helen Lemley of Columbus; brothers, Timothy (Michelle) Davis of Kalamazoo, Michigan, David Davis of Lakewood, Robert Davis of Perrysburg, and John (Rebecca) Gonyer of Collegeville, Pennsylvania; sons, Daniel and Mark; and grandchildren, Jonathon Andrew, Shane Matthew, and Kaylee Nicole Beard, all of Lakeland, Florida.

Janie was preceded in death by her son, Nicholas; brother, Arthur Gonyer; and maternal grandparents, Robert K and Helen G Knisely.

Janie was a 1977 graduate of Fostoria High School. She was a licensed barber, owning her own shop for many years. She was also a talented artist, fantastic cook, and seamstress. Janie always had projects going, much to her family's chagrin. When she was in, she was ALL in. She loved making quilts with her church group. Her church family was important to her and they were all excited when they knew she was in the kitchen making a meal. Janie was the sweetheart of the family, always opening her home to one sibling or another and was often referred to as the "nice" twin. She was the naive one in the family, so she was always fun to tease.

Janie's services were Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Lakeland Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, Lakeland, Florida. Visitation started at 11 a.m. with services at 12 p.m.
