Gerald J. "Jerry" Frankart

Gerald J. "Jerry" Frankart, 82, of Dunbridge and formerly of Fostoria, passed away Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, at his home.

He was born Jan. 22, 1941, in Fostoria, to Harold "Shorty" and Barbara (Hauser) Frankart. He married Lula Byers on July 9, 1960, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and she survives in Dunbridge.

Jerry is also survived by a son, John (Tamara) Frankart of Pemberville; sister, Janice (Larry) Corsault of Illinois; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don (Laura) Byers of Fostoria, Edie Tate of Arkansas, Dave (Regina) Byers of Arkansas, and Wanda Frankart of Bucyrus; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Bradley "Brad" Frankart; brother, James Frankart; brother-in-law, Garry Tate; and mother and father-in-law, Don and Mary Byers.

Jerry was a 1959 graduate of Fostoria High School and was employed with Jeep, Norton Manufacturing, the Carbon Works, Chrysler Plant in Oregon, Bowling Green Lincoln Mercury, Budd Company in North Baltimore, and sold cars at Paul Cole Motors in Fostoria. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Perrysburg, and was an avid MOPAR enthusiast. He enjoyed working with his sons in the garage and going to junkyards. Jerry cherished the time he spent with his many friends. He loved getting together with his cousins and attending family reunions and will be remembered for telling jokes and stories.

The family would like to mention a special thanks to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, good friend Don Bunch, and special nurses, Bev and Margaret.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, until the time of Jerry's funeral at 1 p.m. at Hoening & Son Funeral Home, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44830. A funeral luncheon will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fountain Cemetery.
