Gerald Borer Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" John Borer

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gerald John Borer of Findlay, known to all as "Jerry," 73, Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024.

Jerry was born Jan. 29, 1951, to George Hugo Borer and Louise Clara Hohman Borer. He grew up in New Riegel, Ohio, where he graduated from New Riegel High School. He was known for his adventurous spirit and deep love for nature, which shaped much of his life.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Emily (Joseph) George of Forest; brothers, Ed Borer, and Dan Borer; sisters, Eileen Schuerman, and Diane Borer.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Donald Borer, and Thomas Borer; his sisters, Dorothy Kuhn, and Nancy Lucius; his former wife, Cynthia Borer.

Jerry was the proud owner and operator of Millstream Fence and Home Improvement, a business he ran with dedication and hard work, serving his community and building strong connections through his craft. Outside of work, Jerry had a special passion for the outdoors. Whether he was fishing, hiking, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, or ice fishing, he found great joy in connecting with nature. His love for photography captured countless memories of his journeys, and he was especially fond of his many trips to Canada, where he made lifelong friends across Ontario. A lover of sports and oldies music, Jerry's enthusiasm for life was evident to all who knew him. Jerry was a cherished member of Findlay Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, where his faith and fellowship were central parts of his life.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, in Jerry's honor, at Findlay Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 9935 OH-12, Findlay, Ohio, 45840-1747.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the worldwide work of Jehovah's Witnesses at donate.jw.org.

Jerry's life will be fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all those who shared in his love of the great outdoors. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

We have known Jerry for a very long time. It was so nice being able to go to a Convention or Assembly and see him directing cars into the parking garage or parking lot. He always had a smile on his face and loved the outdoors. He will truly missed.

I have known Jerry most of my life. In our early years, we enjoyed playing basketball and anything related to the outdoors. He was a very caring and giving a person, he was a very humble and loving person. We soon discovered that we both love fishing and spent a lot of time fishing together. Our favorite memories are for fishing in Canada for walleye and pike. While we were in the boat we took our fishing very serious, it even got to be competitive. But at the end of the day after cleaning fish and eating fish, there was nothing like relaxing and playing cards and talking about the big one that got away. Because of his humble personality and warm smile, Jerry had a lot of friends and we´re going to miss him, and we look forward to seeing him again in the not so distant future. Yes, I can´t wait to see that big smile again.
