Georgianna Widmer Obituary
Georgianna Widmer, 84, of Fostoria, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Independence House, Fostoria.
She was born Sept. 3, 1939, in Tiffin, to John and Thora (McGowan) Bland. She married Richard Widmer in 1960 and he passed away in 1980.
She is survived by her children, Ward Widmer of Bellevue and Carrie (Heather) Scott of Fostoria; sister, Kathleen (Ned) Bohan of Florida; grandchildren, Bailey and John Widmer, Rachel Gerard, Shanna and Ryan James, and Jonathon Allen; and great-grandchildren, Lilian, Cali, Eloise, Kyleigh, Jameson, Benjamin, and Oliver.
Georgianna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Patricia Sauber and Rachel Repp.
Georgianna retired from Fostoria City Schools where she taught for 37 years. She received her bachelor's degree from BGSU. She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church. She was also a member of Fostoria City Council, Fostoria Arts Council, Fostoria Women's Club, ADK teacher's sorority, Seneca County Masters Gardeners, Seneca County Commission on Aging, and Seneca County Democrats. She loved to garden and volunteered at Red Cross Blood Drive and at Fostoria Hospital.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, with Father Joseph Poggemeyer officiating. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be private at Bradner Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials can be made to American Cancer Society.

My deepest condolences to all of Mrs. Widmers family. I had the privilege of having her as my teacher along the years with Mrs. Waltemeyer. She would often take me out of class and help me with my work and especially the after-school program. She always had the best snacks and best hugs. She knew I walked home and always made sure I had a friend or she would ask my parents if she could give me a ride home. I moved from Ohio in the 90s and I've always thought about her ever since left. Today I decided to look her up and I find her obituary. I wish I would of seen her as an adult and told her how much she shaped me and helped me have the love while I was at school. May you rest in peace our angel Mrs. Widmer I will always be so thankful you came into my life!

I got to know Georgianna while I taught in Fostoria, and she was such a sweet, fun, talented person. We were also in the ADK teachers sorority together, and I greatly enjoyed working with her. She cared a lot about her students and making a positive difference in the community. She will be missed. My prayers and condolences for her family.
