Doris Long Obituary
Doris I. Long, 92, of Cygnet, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Birchaven Village, Findlay.
She was born April 3, 1931, in Bowling Green, to Leland and Mildred (Slaughterbeck) Stubbins. Doris married Russell C. Long on Oct. 25, 1950, and he preceded her in passing May 29, 2003.
Doris is survived by her children, Russell Long of San Antonio, Texas, Linda Mowrey of Cygnet, Pamela (Chuck) Deckler of Iowa, and Marsha Smith of Detroit, Michigan; sister, Nancy Myers of Cygnet; grandchildren, Tanya Wegner, Jason (Mandy) Deckler, Joel (Tara) Mowrey, Kristen (Sam) Busching, Elysa Smith, Andrew Long, Michelle (Shane) Camp, and Justin Smith; and great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Josephine, Kaitlyn, Emma, Claire, Joslyn, Jof, and Luke.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Mildren; daughter-in-law, Kathy Long; brothers, Fred Stubbins and Harry Stubbins; and sisters, Ruth Instone, Mary Vollmar, and JoAnn Campbell.
Doris was a 1949 graduate of Cygnet High School and then worked at Honeywell for 33 years as an operator and assembler. She was a member of UAW Local 533 in Fostoria, member of Bright Road Church of Christ in Findlay, and had a passion for gardening and walking. Her greatest love in life though was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation for friends will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, at Barndt Funeral Home, Wayne. Doris' celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, at the funeral home with Pastor Wade Tannehill officiating. Burial will be at Jerry City Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Bright Road Church of Christ in Findlay.
