Doris Burk Obituary

Doris Elizabeth "Liz" Burk

Doris Elizabeth "Liz" Burk, 83, of Fostoria, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay. She was born Sept. 25, 1938, in Dublin, Georgia, to the late Willie S. and Corrine L. (Smallwood) Bloodworth. She was a 1957 graduate of Fostoria High School.

Liz attended Fostoria Baptist Church where she would later meet her future husband, Edward. On May 10, 1957, Liz married the late Edward E. Burk, and they were married for 63 years. Liz most recently attended Trinity Baptist Church, Findlay, and was a member of CCL Child Conservation League and Mary Martha Missionary Circle. She worked at CATO's Fashions where she became manager and worked for over 15 years. She also filled her time selling Avon for many years and enjoyed baking and decorating cakes.

Liz adored her family and could be found celebrating every holiday, birthday, graduation, wedding, and special event. She enjoyed family vacations to the beach, Smokey Mountains, Niagara Falls, and visiting family in Georgia and South Carolina. She also enjoyed traveling with Ed to Hawaii, Alaska, the Caribbean, Europe, and Israel. She cherished and looked forward to every weekend visit with the grandkids, shopping trips during the holidays, and playing games with family at every opportunity.

Her faith in God, her love for her family, and her sweet demeanor will forever live in the memories of all that knew her.

Liz was preceded in death by her husband; parents; stepfather, Clayton L. Stevens; brothers, Curtis and Jimmy Bloodworth; and sister, Barbara Ann Bloodworth.

Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Linda (William) Schwab and Danny (Dawn) Burk; grandchildren, Amber (Andrew) Brandeberry, Adam (Lucy) Schwab, Zachary Burk, and Janessa Burk; great-granddaughters, Lilly, Mia, Brynlee, and Karlee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Liz's funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with Pastor Ben Jennings officiating. Burial will be at Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 6, 2022, from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday July 7, 2022, from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to Trinity Baptist Church.
