Connie McCormick Obituary
Connie D. (Gunder) McCormick, 71, of Fostoria, departed this life Saturday, March 30, 2024, surrounded by her family.
She was born Oct. 24, 1952, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Benjamin and Joan (Smith) Gunder. She married Stephen G. McCormick on May 10, 1988, and he preceded her in death June 26, 2014.
Connie is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Sonya) Salaz of Millbury; two grandsons, Brian Haygood of Oregon and Tyler Haygood of Fostoria; stepgrandson, Christopher Salaz of Columbus; eight siblings, Michael (Wanda) Gunder of Fostoria, Jeremy (Samantha) Gunder of Tiffin, Karen (Duane) Cochran of Fostoria, Brandy Huff-Gunder of Fostoria, Louzena "Tink" Breech of Fostoria, Frankie Gunder of Bowling Green, and Tina (Tom) Strickland of North Baltimore; 28 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Benjamin Gunder III.
Connie loved her family dearly. Anyone who knew her knew that her daughter and grandsons were the light of her life. She cherished her relationship with all of her siblings. Connie was an amazing mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who touched the lives of so many people with her silly, kind spirit. Her strength, courage, and strong will to survive was and will continue to be an inspiration to her daughter. Connie will truly be missed and will never, ever be forgotten.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024, until the time of Connie's memorial service at 1 p.m. at HOENING FUNERAL HOME, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44830. Pastor Matthew Smith will preside.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or F.A.C.T. (Financial Assistance for Cancer Treatment) in care of the funeral home.
