Carol J. Lininger

Carol J. Lininger, 75, of Bowling Green, passed away Thursday April 27, 2023, at Wood Haven Health Care, Bowling Green.

She was born Oct. 22, 1947, in Lima, to O.J. "Bill" and Adell H. (Metzner) Lininger.

Carol is survived by five siblings, Sister Mary Adell (Gloria) Lininger S.N.D of Gainsville, Florida, James W. "Boe" (Sharyn) Lininger of Fostoria, Nancy L. Lambertson of Minnetonka, Minnesota, John E. "Jack" (Cindy) Lininger of Findlay, and William M. "Bill" Lininger of Roanoke, Virginia; nieces and nephews, Jamie (Charlotte) Lininger, the late Jeff (Vicki) Lininger, Jason (Carmen) Lininger, Kristin (Michael) Kalan, Aaron (Vanessa) Lininger, and Becky (Leroy) McGowan; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Jacquelyn, Joel, Kayleigh, Justin, Leah, Emily, Christian, Andrew, Kayla, and Kam.

Carol was a member of St Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy, Toledo, in 1966, and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Library Science in 1974 from Bowling Green State University, and later an undergraduate major in Computer Science. She retired with 35 years of service with the university in the library and in the IT Department as Computer Operations Supervisor.

She was a member and past President of St. Vincent DePaul Society in Fostoria. In her leisure, she enjoyed playing euchre and needlepoint. She made every niece and nephew a Christmas stocking. She loved her nieces and nephews, singing, and dogs, especially Snoopy. She was kind, generous, gentle, and humble.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Hoening & Son Funeral Home, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44830, where a vigil will take place at 7:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Thursday May 4, 2023, at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, with the Very Rev. Joseph Poggemeyer presiding. Burial will follow at St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at St. Wendelin Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Fostoria St. Vincent DePaul Society or Fostoria Sharing Kitchen in care of the funeral home.
