Beverly Kay Essman

Beverly Kay Essman, 87, of Risingsun, passed away at 7:45 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2024, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.

She was born December 9, 1937, in Lima to the late Edmond and Helen (Dardio) Orchard. She married James Allan Essman January 1, 1991, in Portage, and he survives in Risingsun.

Also surviving are four children, Michael Wallen, Plain City, Kathy Wallen, St. Petersburg, Florida, Kimberly Shepherd, Maumee, and Stephen Patrick Wallen, Westminster, Maryland; three grandchildren, Andrew Wallen, Nicki Wallen and Bryan Shepherd; stepson, James Allan Essman Jr., Findlay; and stepgrandchild, McKenna Essman.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Orchard; and stepson, Justin Ben Essman.

Bev had been a second grade teacher for 25 years at Elmwood Local Schools, retiring in 1998. She was also a partner with Essman Insurance, Risingsun for 10 years, retiring in 2007. She was a life member of Wood County Retired Teachers Assn., and enjoyed playing the piano at Birchaven once a week for the residents. She earned her master's degree from Ashland University in secondary education.

A celebration of life service for Bev will be from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Lizenberg Memorial Woods, Hancock Park District, 6100 US-224, Findlay, OH 45840, where a luncheon and time for sharing will take place. Casual dress is suggested.
