Thomas John Blaser

Detroit - Thomas John Blaser, 90, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023.

Thomas was born Sept. 9, 1932, in Fostoria, to Gerald P. And Lenore E. Blaser. Thomas graduated from St. Wendelin High School, Fostoria. He then went on to attend and subsequently graduate from University of Detroit School of Architecture.

Thomas was employed by J. L. Hudson Company and Studios of Interior Design and was a member of American Society of Interior Designers throughout his 50-year career. He had a keen eye for high quality and was a inveterate collector of fine furnishings, antiques, and fine art. A life-long Catholic, he supported three parishes, St. Wendelin in Fostoria, St. Scholastica in Detroit, Michigan, and Church of the Transfiguration in Southfield, Michigan.

Thomas will be missed by his many friends of all ages. Additionally, he will be remembered as a humanitarian and for showing great kindness and generosity to all with whom he came in contact with, as well as all creatures great and small. Thomas was always deeply interested in sharing with others his wealth of knowledge gained from a long, well-lived life of broad experience.

Thomas is survived by his cousins, Rodney Dell, Deborah Welly, Shirley Lumpe, Father John Blaser, and James Blaser.

Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023, at Heeny Sundquist Funeral Home, 23720 Farmington Rd., Farmington, Michigan, 48336, with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, at Church of the Transfiguration, 25225 Code Rd., Southfield, Michigan. He will lie in-state at 9:30 a.m.

A luncheon will follow funeral Mass at a venue to be announced at the service. Interment will be at St. Wendelin Cemetery, Fostoria.
