Steven Troike Obituary

Steven William Troike

Steven William Troike, 72, of Fostoria, passed away after a long illness at 9:10 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Steven graduated from Sandusky High School and joined U.S. Navy after graduation. He was in the Navy from 1970-1974, stationed primarily in San Diego. He served during the Vietnam War on the USS San Bernardino and the USS Bradley. He was a very proud veteran and was member of AmVets, VFW, and Adjutant for the American Legion in Fostoria.

He always believed that you should live your life with an attitude of gratitude. Always be grateful for the things in life God has given you and always tell people that matter in your life that you love them.

Steven married Kathy D. Morell on Oct. 30, 1970, and from that two sons, Eric William (Dawn) and Phillip Robert (Stefani), were born. They later divorced. He later married the love of his life, Cedeania M. Cousin Troike, on Nov. 15, 1995, and from that union had two daughters, Kamryn Alexis (Steven) Neilsen of Frankfort Germany, and Peighton Elizabeth Troike of Maumee.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kendall, Kaden, Mekhia, and Elijah, all of Sandusky; brothers, Donald E. (Carol) of Denver, Colorado, and Randy M. (Marla) of Castalia; sister, Candace M. Leedy of Sandusky; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Jay and Brett Cousin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Arnold Leedy.

A man of strong faith, Steve was a member of High Street United Methodist Church in Fostoria. Steve retired in 2008 from USPS after 32 years as Postmaster in Fostoria, but had served in many Ohio offices in many capacities. After retirement, Steve was such a caring man with so much to offer. He became a Para Professional for Fostoria Schools and also worked at Fostoria Junction taking care of developmentally disabled adults, retiring for good in 2018.

Steve was an avid motorcyclist. He loved riding his trike with a large group, but his favorite was the little foursome they dubbed the Wild Hogs with his brother-in-law, Brett, Dave Smith, and Jeff Heimann. He also loved watching his girls and grandson play sports and watching Mad Dog on ESPN with his brother-in-law, Brett, every Wednesday. He loved The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Guardians. He will always be remembered for the love he had for his family and his Lord, and for always having the biggest smile on his face. He will be missed by an entire community.

The family would like to thank Toledo Hospital, The Lakes of Monclova, Flower Hospital, and Bridge Hospice for all the wonderful care.

Steven's memorial gathering will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024, until the time of his celebration of life at 11:30 a.m. at High Street United Methodist Church, Fostoria. Military honors will be provided by United Veterans of Fostoria and Pastor Jim Sharrett will preside.

Memorial contributions may be considered to American Legion or High Street United Methodist Church.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Steve´s passing. I have memories of Steve always being up to something on Stahlwood and was happy to read that his zest for life continued. I will never forget those days in the neighborhood. His humor, love and enthusiasm will be sorely missed. Hugs to all.

I worked in Fostoria post office for 4 years under Steve. He was a great boss. He always had time. He will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences to his family.

Steve was a terrific person. Always so kind and nice to myself and my late husband Gary. Always made us laugh. Although no words of sympathy can ease the loss your family bears, may you find comfort knowing how much his friends care and that he will be missed.
