Steven L. Smith

Steven L. "Steve" Smith, 76, of Fostoria, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital in Toledo.

He was born May 3, 1948, in Fostoria to Dewey J and Betty Ann Smith. He married Jane Myers in 1977 at High Street United Methodist Church in Fostoria and she survives him.

Also surviving are his children, Jerry (Geri Theis) Smith, of Fostoria, Stephanie (Kara) Bechard-Smith, of Cleveland, Marcus (Kitty) McClellan, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Samantha (Tim) Sayre, of Bloomdale; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, David (Jeanie) Adams-Smith, of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and one sister, Vicki (Larry) Marshall, of Orville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Steve was a machinist/set-up man with Atlas Crankshaft in Fostoria, retiring after 33 years of service. A family man, he especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Gardening, bowling, grilling, and making chocolates for the holidays were his favorite pastimes. Since retirement he and his wife have enjoyed their grandchildren as well as watching and feeding the birds. He was also a great neighbor, always willing to help.

Visitation will be from 11-1 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline Street, Fostoria. A time of sharing memories to celebrate Steve's life will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia.
