Socorro "Cory" Macias

Socorro "Cory" Macias, 93, of Fostoria, passed away unexpectedly at 11:40 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2025, at ProMedica Fostoria Hospital.

She was born February 11, 1932, in Fremont, to the late Sotero and Mercedes (Lopez) Gutierrez. She married Richard J. Macias, September 14, 1957, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, and he preceded her in death February 6, 2020.

Surviving her are a son, Gregory R. Macias of Fostoria; granddaughter, Alexis M. Myers-Macias; two grandchildren, Alexander and Adelina King; and stepgrandson, Braeden Reinhart.

She was also preceded in death by sisters, Maria "Ruth" Saenz, Lucille Hernandez, and Lupe Lopez; and brothers, Paulo, Tony, and Tino Flores.

Cory was a graduate of St. Wendelin High School, a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and its Guadalupe Society, and had been a festival worker and a generous volunteer of the parish. She was a homemaker and retired from Honeywell, Fostoria.

Cory will be remembered for her love of family, especially the care she devoted to her husband, Richard.

Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2025, at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, OH 44830, where a Vigil will be at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass is at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2025, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Poggemeyer presiding. Burial will follow at St. Wendelin Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at St. Wendelin Parish Hall.
