Sally Morris Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Sally James Morris on January 9th, 2025 (age 85).

Born on July 13, 1939, Sally was the oldest daughter of Owen James, Sr. and Elizabeth "Betty" James of Stoneleigh, MD. Preceding her in death were her siblings Owen James, Jr. of Baltimore, Martha James of Cooperstown, NY, and Joanne James of Baltimore.

A Baltimore native, Sally, spent her early years in Sparrows Point before moving to the suburbs and graduating from Towson High School. She went on to graduate from The University of Maryland in 1962, with a degree in education and she later earned a graduate degree in education from Towson State University. Sally began her teaching career at Garrison Forest Elementary and Rosedale Elementary and then dedicated nearly twenty years teaching at Red House Run Elementary.

Sally married the love of her life Wayne Elbert Morris on June 23, 1962, and spent 58 years raising their two children, Chris Morris (Maureen) and Curt Morris (Lauryn), in Parkville, MD. She was a devoted grandmother to Ben, Maddie, Lindsey, Tucker, Justin, Spencer, and Dylan.

Sally was very active in her bridge club groups, was a parishioner at Linden Heights United Methodist Church, and enjoyed traveling especially to her family home on the Jersey Shore in Lavallette, NJ. She cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and many close friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Oak Crest Village Chapel on Saturday May 3 at 11:00 am; 8820 Walther Boulevard, Parkville, MD 21234. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to: National Kidney Foundation of Maryland, 1301 York Road #209, Timonium, MD 21093.
