Ruth Williams Obituary

Ruth Joan Williams

Ruth Joan (Logsdon) Williams passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, December 13, 2025, just shy of 98 years old. Ruth lived a lovely, fully engaged life. She was a smart, quick-witted woman of strong character and faith. She was an unflappable, adoring parent and supportive grandmother, who was quick to laugh and always ready to lend a hand.

Born in Tiffin, Ruth was self-reliant at a young age and after marrying Donovan in 1947, they built a home and a business just outside of Tiffin. Their business, The Club 224, was popular during the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, beginning as a supper club and evolving into a live rock-and-roll venue. While raising nine children, Ruth served as The Club's CFO.

Retiring to Venice, Florida, in 1978, Ruth enjoyed playing tennis, singing, and entertaining friends. To Ruth, being of service to others was essential to a fulfilling life and she exemplified this through long-time volunteer work.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donovan; daughter, Theresa; and granddaughter, Alexa Zellers.

She is survived by eight of her children, Elaine (Joe) Manella of Orlando, Florida, Steve (Lisa) of Tiffin, Mary Jo Schaller of Findlay, Brenda of Venice, Florida, Donna of Bradenton, Florida, Joe (Karen) of Camas, Washinton, Dan (Terry) of Bellevue, and Paula (Terry) Vajgrt of Venice, Florida; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Ruth's memorial Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2026, at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 770 Kilbourne Ave., Englewood, FL 34223.
