Nellie Long Obituary
Nellie A. "Nell" Long, 81, of Risingsun, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, at her home.
She was born Nov. 22, 1941, in Rossford, to Peter and Velma (Hamilton) Faykosh.
Nellie is survived by her son, Kent (Mary) Long of Risingsun; daughter, Sandra Long of Risingsun; siblings, Paul (Pat) Faykosh and Rose (Don) King; grandchildren, Thomas Long, Katie (Josh) Harrison, Tember (Jason) Smith, Destiney (Marcus) Elliott, and Bree (Andrew) Hovis; 11 great-grandchildren; and special furry companion, Maggie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Velma; twin infant sons, Mark and David; and sister, Geraldine "Gerry" Levorchick.
Nell went to school for cosmetology, learned flower arranging from her sister Rose, and even worked at Obie's Flowers for some time. She was very artistic and could do anything she set her mind to. She formed many lasting friendships while running the Rock Inn and working at Foodtown. She was a friend to everyone and all who met her considered her special and themselves lucky to know her. She was a fierce card player. The fun of the game with whoever was playing, family and friends, were her favorite part. But winning, that was always the goal. Nell will always be remembered as having a kind-hearted soul trying to help any animal that crossed her path.
She loved Golden Girls, often quoting parts of episodes that fit the moment and made her laugh and she couldn't stand not working on getting that winning lottery ticket. Her greatest love in life though, was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and boy did she love them!
Visitation for friends will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2023, at Barndt Funeral Home, Wayne, Ohio. Nell's celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023, at the funeral home. Immediately following, a graveside service will be at Graham Cemetery near Wayne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Nature's Nursery or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
