Nancy Engleman Obituary

Nancy Sue Engleman

Nancy Sue (Orwig) Engleman, 82, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at her home in Columbus, with her family by her side.

Born in Tiffin, April 26, 1943, Nancy was the daughter of Daryl and Lucille (Good) Orwig. She worked in her family's business, Frosted Foods, and later at Ballreich's and Seneca County Sheriff's Office.

Nancy was known for her kind and generous heart, her unforgettable smile and laugh, and her deep love for family, friends, animals, and community. Affectionately called "Grandma Nancy" by many, she showed up for others in countless ways and was a talented seamstress who poured love into everything she created.

She is survived by her children, Juliana (Jeff) Moore of Columbus and Scott (Laura) Engleman of Sandusky; her brother, Tom (Barb) Orwig of Tiffin; and many who were blessed to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Mel (Cheri) Orwig.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to support the placement of memorial garden benches in Nancy's honor, one in Tiffin and one in Columbus.

My Aunt Nancy's house was one of my favorite places to be when we visited Tiffin. There was always love there with Juli and Scott, Her smile always infectious and her laugh, which I can still hear when I think of her, came easy and often. Her tender love of animals of all kinds was a bug I caught, alongside Juli. When I saw her last in July 2024, I was taken by how cheer and joy came through, even as her words were few. Her essence was all kindness.

Nancy was my school friend .We had a small posse consisting of Betty Bacon, Marilyn Krause, Barb Crabil, Nancy Orwig and myself Barb Lydey. We did everything together. Nancy could always get her parent's car so we were mobile... we would go to Big Boy in Fremont and Nancy knew how to rig the speedometer so her parents woudn't know we went out of town. We had so much fun together. Nancy's Dad asked us to work at a Lion's Club dinner one evening , but he never asked us again (we were having too much fun). After my sisters and I moved away Nancy always helped my Mom and Dad out. She was so kind and caring. I could never repay her for her generosity. I know she took families into her home that could not make a go of it. She was a friend to all. Plus she loved animals. She will be missed but I'm sure the Lord has her in charge in heaven taking care of all. Barb Lydey
