Michael A. "Mike" Burd

Michael A. "Mike" Burd, 80, of Tiffin, passed away Thursday morning, December 4, 2025, at The Willows at Tiffin.

He was born July 29, 1945, in Tiffin, to Robert E. and Helen Bernice (Scherger) Burd. On July 10, 1970, he married Irene Miller.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Burd of Tiffin; son, Brett (Michelle) Burd of Republic; daughter, Michelle (Shawn) Collene of Tiffin; brothers, Robert (Nancy) Burd II of Milford, Delware, Gerald (Patricia) Burd of New Braunfels, Texas, and David Burd of Fremont; sister-in-law, Julie Burd of Tucson; four grandchildren, Grant Burd, Spencer Burd, Chance Collene and Elsyann Collene; three stepgrandchildren, Cheyenne Love, Dallas Neff and Bailey Dillinger; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steven Burd.

Mike graduated from Bettsville High School in 1963 and attended Bowling Green State University. He served in the United States Army from 1967 -1969. He spent 13 years at Basic Refractories and then worked at Whirlpool in Findlay, retiring after 25 years. Mike was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, AMVETS Post 48, American Legion No. 169 and Seneca County United Veterans Council, where he served on Honor Guard for military funerals for many years. He enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events, golfing, camping, vacationing, bus trips, attending county fairs, watching OSU and Cleveland Indians and could fix anything.

His Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Anthony Coci officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors being conducted by United Veterans Council.
