Larry Snyder Obituary

Larry Dean Snyder

Larry Dean Snyder, 85, of Lakeview, and formerly of Arcadia, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2023, at home with his family by his side.

Larry was born Jan. 20, 1938, in Fostoria, the son of John Snyder Jr. and Doris Gobel Leith. Larry married his first wife, Patricia Ann Schmitz Snyder, on Sept. 27, 1958, and she preceded him in death March 5, 1993. Larry then married Dianne C. Parker Snyder on June 3, 2005, and she survives.

He is also survived by four children, Larry D. (Zelda) Snyder Jr. of Forest, Terri Dee Ann (Jerry Fletcher) Snyder of Lakeview, Ann Marie (Johnny) Brewer of Xenia, and Faith Nicole Snyder of Delta; eight grandchildren, Natalie Smith and Ashely Snyder, both of Findlay, Jerry Fletcher II of Port Jefferson, and Jessica Gerardi, Joey Brewer, Johnathann Brewer, Janne Brewer, and Jean Brewer, all of Xenia; three great-grandsons, Carsen Smith, Connor Smith, and Caleb Smith; and sister, Margeane (Jeff) King of Risingsun.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jannice Dunfee; and brother, Dale Snyder.

Larry graduated from Emerson High School. He retired from Atlas Crankshaft after 30 years of service. He was a member of Assembly of God Churches in Fostoria and Findlay, Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533, and UAW. Larry was a man of many interests. He had a love of cars starting with wrenching sprint cars with his future father-in-law. After taking the car on the track and being passed by others going faster than he was comfort driving, he decided this was not for him. His love of cars continued as he would take his 1991 Dodge Cummins Diesel Truck and 1986 Pontiac Sunbird to car shows.

Larry enjoyed hunting with his dog, Fluffy, a dedicated Springer Spaniel, who would only allow Larry to retrieve his prizes from her. He enjoyed the adventure of camping, boating, and fishing, taking his family on trips and vacations to National Parks and visited every state but two. He enjoyed talking on the CB and HAM radio to family and friends. Larry was a fan of NASCAR driver Mark Martin and made yearly trips to Michigan International Speedway. He was also a fan of Cincinnati Reds. Larry never knew a stranger and will be missed by all who knew him.

Private graveside services will be at Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia.

Memorial contributions may be given in Larry's memory to Universal Home Health and Hospice Care at uhcinc.org.

Arrangements are in the care of Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview. Condolences may be expressed at shoffstallfuneralhome.com.

Larry was a great man and good Christian. He once told me several decades ago that he don't talk bad about others and I never have forgotten, What a great person Larry was to have such ethics and character.
