Kenneth L. Keckler

Kenneth LeRoy "Ken" Keckler, 81, of Risingsun, passed away Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023, at his home.

He was born Nov. 1, 1942, in Fostoria, to Claude and Viola (Hunt) Keckler Jr. He married Karen Hunker on Feb. 1, 1964, at Hope Lutheran Church, Fostoria.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Keckler of Risingsun; son, Kennon (Stephanie) Keckler of Solon; brothers, Tim Keckler of Florida and Ronald Keckler of Texas; and grandchildren, Jesse and Kody Keckler.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Terry Keckler; and sister, Janet Edler.

Kenneth worked at White Front Supermarket. He then retired in 1998 from Honeywell after 36 years. After retiring, he worked for Wells in Risingsun & Cole Motors. He was a 1960 graduate of Fostoria High School and completed an apprenticeship program for Ford Motor Co. Ken was a competitive archer, enjoyed golfing, helped train horses, and was a member of the St. James Dart ball team. Ken was a skilled machinist, working in several areas. He liked making whimsical canes and repairing antique fans. Ken was also very proud of his grandsons and all of their accomplishments.

Ken's memorial service will be 12 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at St. James Lutheran Church, Bradner, with Pastor Melanie Haack officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be private at Kansas Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. James Lutheran Church or International Myeloma Foundation.
