Karen Strahm Obituary

Karen Sue Strahm

Karen Sue Strahm, 74, of Fostoria, passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday morning, Dec. 3, 2024, at her home in the presence of her loving husband.

She was born Aug. 1, 1950, in Manhattan, Kansas, to the late Clair and Rosella (Nye) Risser. She married Clarence Richard "Rick" Strahm Jr. Aug. 24, 1968, at United Methodist Church in Carey, and he survives in Fostoria.

Also surviving are three children, Jessica Strahm of Santa Cruz, California, Amanda (Matthew) Allshouse of Van Buren and Anthony (Adena) Strahm of Dublin; nine grandchildren, Bodie, Curtis and Lulu Rimmer, Olivia, Scarlet and Violet Allshouse, Landon Swinehart, Ariston and Orion Strahm; sister, Sandy (Mark) Thompson of Carey; brothers, Charles (Dixie) Risser of Florida and Leland Risser of Upper Sandusky; former sister-in-law, Virginia Risser of Tiffin; and sister-in-law, Tammi Lonsway of Garfield Heights; brothers-in-law, Mike Strahm of Fostoria and David Strahm of Los Angeles, California.

Karen was a 1968 graduate of Carey High School and attended Tiffin University. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Fostoria.

Karen retired from the former Honeywell, Fostoria, after 25 years of service as a payroll accountant, a retired technician from Fostoria Kroger Pharmacy, a Mary Kay consultant, current office manager at Wesley United Methodist Church and the financial manager for Wesley Day Care and Preschool where she was referred to as spunky, a mentor, and "Grandma Karen" by children at the daycare.

Karen, first and foremost, will be remembered as a remarkable, supportive, beautiful wife, mama, and friend to all. Most all will share memories of her as a kind, loving, generous, caring, humorous, and wonderful friend with a big heart. Karen volunteered at American Red Cross and Fostoria Food Pantry and was a former team mom to FOS-Y swim team. She was devoted to her family and wife of a proud Vietnam Veteran; she was a home soldier and the glue that held everything together.
