Karen Mae Smith

Karen Mae Smith, 81, of Findlay, went home to be with the Lord Monday morning, August 4 2025. Karen was born in Fostoria, May 31, 1944, to Edward Smith and Mabel (Bennett) Smith. She graduated from Fostoria High School in 1962 and continued her education to receive her diploma in Nursing from Maumee Valley Hospital School of Nursing (Toledo, OH) in 1969. In 1973, she graduated from Fort Wayne Bible College with a BS in Missionary Nursing. She worked for Frontier Nursing Service in Hyden, Kentucky, from 1973 to 1974. Her nursing career experience included 23 years in hospitals and 15 years in home health care, serving in Indiana, Florida, and North Carolina before retiring in 2009.

Moving back to Ohio in 2013 to be closer to family Karen enjoyed spending time with her cherished friends, and family, traveling extensively especially enjoying taking cruises, attending conferences, reading, photography, gardening, canning and playing gospel and other Christian music on her piano and guitar she was also an avid sports enthusiast and participated in women's softball and basketball for many years.

She is survived by her brother, Dennis A. Smith, and his wife, Sara, of Fostoria; her sister, Janice E. Tennison, and her husband, Larry, of Findlay. And many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by parents, Edward and Mabel Smith and brother, Duane Smith.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2025, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with Pastor Ben Wallick officiating. Burial will be at Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria. Visitation will be two hours prior to service.

Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
