John Oakleaf Obituary

John Edward Oakleaf

John Edward Oakleaf, 71, of Fremont, and formerly of Tiffin, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at his home residence.

John was born May 26, 1954, to the late Harold Ellis Oakleaf and Janet Elaine (Reif) Oakleaf. He was unmarried and is survived by a brother, Daniel M. Oakleaf, of Crossville, Tennessee.

John graduated from Old Fort High School in 1972 and shortly thereafter began employment at Kelsey-Hayes Automotive Corporation in Port Clinton until his retirement. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and loved local, college, and professional basketball and baseball.

In his spare time, he was a master auto mechanic, loved to fish with his buddies in Lake Erie, was an excellent welder like his dad, and loved electronics and computer technologies. In his youth, John was a proud member of Oakleaf Brothers Horse Pulling family, which was initiated by his grandfather, Russel Franklin Oakleaf, in the early 1920s.

There will be no services at this time, per John's request, and burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery, Tiffin, at a later date. Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 North Street, Fremont, is assisting family with arrangements.
