Jeanne was born in 1926 in Prescott, Wisconsin, to Robert Meier and Marjorie (Mapes) Meier. She graduated from Prescott High School in 1944 and then attended Mission House College and Seminary, now Lakeland University, in Plymouth, Wisconsin, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1948.
At Mission House, she met her life-long partner, Robert (Bob) H. Opperman, and they were married June 8, 1949 in Prescott, Wisconsin. Bob finished his Masters of Divinity and became an ordained minister in 1952. Together, they served churches in College Hill, Ohio, Plymouth, Wisconsin, Traer, Iowa, Dysart, Iowa, and Fostoria.
Jeanne and Bob were blessed with five children, Paul Christ, Judith Ann, Phillip Allen, Mark Robert, and Peter Joel; 11 amazing grandchildren; and six great-grandsons, all who brought so much joy to her life.
During her career, Jeanne obtained a Master's Degree in Library Science from University of Northern Iowa and worked as a teacher and media specialist in Wisconsin and Iowa. In her spare time, she enjoyed being a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood and Order of the Eastern Star, as well as crafting, sewing, reading, gardening, and baking.
She and Bob retired to Fostoria in 1985, where they experienced a retirement full of church and community activities, traveling, camping, and special moments with their treasured family. They looked forward to winters in Florida with family and friends for many years.
