Frank Safran, 85, from Cortland, Ohio, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 7, 2026.

He was born July 30, 1940, in Rome, New York, son of Frank and Mary Safran. Frank pursued a lifelong passion for engineering and problem-solving. He graduated from Westmoreland High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology, laying the foundation for a distinguished career. Frank dedicated his professional life to General Electric, where he worked with commitment and integrity until his retirement from GE Niles Mahoning Glass in 2000.

Frank was known for his remarkable ability to fix just about anything. Whether it was a household repair or an intricate electrical project, he approached each task with patience and precision. His love for tinkering around the house was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his curious mind and generous spirit.

An avid ham radio enthusiast, Frank held the call sign WB8PHH and found joy in connecting with fellow operators across the globe. He was a member of The Warren Amateur Radio Association. His interest in communication technology mirrored his broader appreciation for learning and sharing knowledge. Frank also gave generously of his time as a ham radio volunteer for the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure.

A devoted member of St. Robert's Catholic Church in Cortland, Frank found strength and fellowship through his faith community.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Lou, of 56 years; son, Michael Safran of Windsor, Colorado; and daughter, Julie Ford (Michael) of Boise, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Rimiller.

Frank's legacy lives on through the many lives he touched with his kindness, ingenuity, and quiet generosity. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

A private family service will take place, with interment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Tiffin. The family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
