Emmet Sheeran Obituary

Emmet Thomas Sheeran Jr.

Emmet Thomas Sheeran Jr, 66, of Fostoria, passed away, Friday, July 15, 2022 at his home.

He was born April 8, 1956 in Cleveland to the late Dr. Emmet Thomas Sheeran Sr and Janet Marie (Wade) Sheeran. He married the love of his life, Rita Rumschlag on May 11, 1984 and she preceded him in death on September 8, 2021 which broke his heart.

Surviving are his children Jessie Rae (Jennifer Hamberg) Sheeran, of Minnesota, and Nathan Thomas (Linda) Sheeran, of Fostoria; grandchildren, Xavier, Ethan, Melody, Elijah and Lucy; and siblings, Mary Ann (Errol) Flynn, of Bonita Springs, Fla, Michael (the late Patricia) Sheeran, of Bryan, Ohio, Kathryn (Randolph) Brown, of Bonita Springs, Fla, and Nancy M. (the late Randall) Dana and Nancy's fiancé, Dan Hannon of Columbus, Ohio, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Brian and Adam Sheeran and a brother, Patrick Sheeran.

Emmet attended St. Wendelin schools. The bulk of his career was spent at Norton's Manufacturing as a machine worker.

Emmet was a fun-loving, witty, jokester of a guy, always the life of the party. He was famous for flipping his eyelids for all the little children's amusement. He was yet sentimental, surrounding himself with family photos and spending countless hours watching family videos and reminiscing about happier times. His family and his grandchildren were the joy in his life. Emmet loved being around people, even "unofficially" volunteering at a local nursing home, but he was never the same after Rita's death.

He found respite in nature: bird watching, squirrel hunting, fishing and some gardening. He once flew from Arkansas to Ohio with a squirrel hidden in his pocket! He was also a dare-devil, and had "the need for speed". He loved motorcycles and cars, especially his Honda Gold Wing, and his Javelin AMX.

He was hooked on watching Jeopardy and following politics, and was a Detroit Pistons basketball fan. He also loved dogs, most importantly his Boxer "Buddy".

The family wishes to express a special thank you to the The Markey Family and to Ben Rumschlag for their compassion and kindness to Emmet over these past months.

Private family services will be held. Emmet will be laid to rest with his wife Rita in Fountain Cemetery in Fostoria.

Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, has been entrusted with arrangements.
