Dale Reid Nye

Dale Reid Nye, 94, of Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria, and formerly of Carey, died at 12:39 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023, at ProMedica Fostoria Hospital.

He was born May 18, 1929, in Carey, to Orville and Flossie (Putnam) Nye. He married Herta Paula Kollmer on June 12, 1951, in Vienna, Austria, and she preceded him in death Nov. 9, 2020.

Dale is survived by his daughter, Sylvia Ann (Doug) Daniels of Carey; two grandchildren, Ericka (Jason) Kurtz of Carey and Melanie (Nick) Birch of Fostoria; two great-grandchildren, Katie and Abby Kurtz; and brothers, Harold and Ron Nye, both of Carey.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Dwight, Fred, Leonard, and Robert Nye, Louise Shaull, Annabell Philips, Carol Walters, Donna Greer, Corrine Nye, Esther Risner, and Rosella Risser.

Dale was in the HD and Service Company in Vienna, Austria. Dale served in U.S. Army from May, 1946 to November, 1947 and again from August, 1948 to June, 1952. Dale was a member of Black-Lamberjack VFW Post 3759, Carey. He was of the Protestant faith. He retired from National Lime and Stone Company, Carey.

Dale's graveside services will be private and at a later date. Burial will be at Zion Bloom Cemetery, rural Vanlue.
