Craig Holmes Obituary
Craig L. Holmes, 84, of Findlay, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024.
He was born Sept. 8, 1939, in Waterford, Pennsylvania, to Cecil H. and Thora L. (Delavern) Holmes, who preceded him in death. Craig married Lynda J. Humes on July 22, 1961, and she preceded him in death July 13, 2013.
He is survived by his daughter, Hillary A. (Chris Coughlin) Holmes of Findlay; and sister, Sally (James) Vogt of Erie, Pennsylvania.
Craig was a 1957 graduate of Fort Le Bouef High School. He attended Gannon College in Erie, Pennsylvania. Craig grew up in his family's John Deere dealership in Waterford, Pennsylvania, before he began his career working for JI Case Company as a territory representative, eventually moving to Findlay to manage the JI Case dealership. Then in 1972, he opened Findlay Implement with four employees. The dealership grew to eight locations and over 150 employees before he retired in 2022. Craig was the director of Ohio-Michigan Equipment Dealers Association for eight years. He was also a member of Findlay Country Club, Free & Accepted Masons, Lodge #227, Findlay Shrine Club, and St Andrew's United Methodist Church. Craig loved helping children and was a big supporter of Hancock County Jr. Fair and Boy Scouts of America.
Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Craig's funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, the funeral home. A graveside service will be in Waterford, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Craig to Hancock County Agricultural Society, Craig Holmes Family Adoption Assistance Fund with Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation, or Findlay Shrine Club. I am sorry to see that Craig has passed from this life. John was a long time customer of Findlay Implement. He respected Craig because of his honest treatment during their many farm equipment purchases through the years. My condolences are sent to his family during your time of mourning. God bless you.
