Clarence J. Podach

Clarence J. Podach, 90, of Fostoria, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022.

He was born Aug. 18, 1932, in Tiffin, to the late Joseph and Francis (Kuhn) Podach. He married Shirley A. Wagner on Feb. 5, 1955, at St Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and she died March 16, 2015.

Surviving are seven children, Bob (fiancé, Joy Walters) Podach of Fostoria, Tom (Carolyn) Podach of Bettsville, Joan (Tom) Zimmerman of Kansas, Shari Morris of Missouri, Jim (Denise) Podach of Florida, Don (fiancé, Anja) Podach of Virginia, and Angy (Matt) Shafferly of Alvada; 12 grandchildren, Ryan, Neil, Britney, Caleb, Zach, Ashley, Chris, Andy, Trenton, Landon, Lakyn, and Cyndy; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Podach of Fostoria; and three sisters, Mary Ellen Kessler-Hoover of Fostoria, Clara Brickner of Fostoria, and Jean Ann Brickner of Tiffin.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Peg Podach; brother, Florian Podach; grandson, Jobe Podach; and great-grandson, Reid Podach.

Clarence attended St. Wendelin Catholic School and was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. He was also a member of Fostoria Knights of Columbus Council 1197, Old Fort Grange, Farm Bureau Council, and was a 4-H advisor. Clarence enjoyed fishing, baby sitting, "crackin' nuts," and baking, especially pecan pies.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, home health care workers, and hospice for their special care for Clarence.

Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, at Hoening & Son Funeral Home, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria. Clarence's funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Seneca County Jr. Fair Foundation in care of the funeral home.
