Thomas A. Whitta

Thomas A. Whitta, 69, of Fostoria, passed away at 8:55 pm Sunday June 19, 2022 with family by his side at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria after a long struggle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Tom was born January 14, 1953 in Fostoria to the late James Charles and Ruth Ann (Hattendorf)Whitta. He married Lori Hardin in 1976, they later divorced and she survives in California.

Also surviving is a son, Tim (Patty) Whitta, Austin, TX; daughter, Lindsey (Tim) Weller,Chagrin Falls; siblings, David (Denise) Whitta, Fostoria; Kathryn (Jon) Miller, Ottawa Hills;Mary (the late Kirk) VanDagens, Bloomfield Hills, MI; James S.(Jon Harada) Whitta, Berkeley,CA; Susan (Mike) Zeiler, Grand Haven, MI and Elizabeth "Beth" (Ken Reinhart) Buhrow,Fostoria; along with many nieces and nephews.

Tom retired from the family business as Vice-President and Co-Owner of Whitta Construction Inc., Fostoria, after 49 years of service. He was devoted to the business, his family, and all of the employees and their families. He was known to always greet you with a smile, give you an ornery wink, and show kindness and generosity. He loved golf, music and singing along to 70's rock, and could challenge anyone in a game of cards. He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and a 1971 graduate of St. Wendelin High School. He was a third degree and fourth degree member of the Fostoria Knights of Columbus.

Public visitation is Friday June 24, 2022 from 2-6 pm at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, OH 44830. A family funeral service will take place at 6 pm at the funeral home.
