Stephen Clagg Obituary

Stephen Paul Clagg

Stephen Paul Clagg passed away peacefully Saturday, April 4, 2026, in Columbus, surrounded by loved ones. He lived a remarkable life defined by dedication and service to his country.

Steve was born March 20, 1947, in Fostoria, to Leslie Clagg and Rosella Ferguson (Durst). He was raised by Rosella and Maurice Ferguson. Fostoria always held a special place in Steve's heart.

Steve served honorably in the U.S. Army, retiring after 20 years with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. During his military career, he received numerous awards and decorations, including the Purple Heart for his service in the Vietnam War. He took great pride in serving his country, with tours of duty in Germany, Maryland, Colorado, and Kentucky.

After retiring from the Army, Steve returned to Ohio and worked for the city of Columbus as a maintenance manager and mechanic. He was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

Steve enjoyed hot rods, motorcycles, bowling, fishing, playing pool, traveling, and golfing. Above all, he cherished time with his family.

Stephen Paul Clagg is survived by his daughter, Denise Prieto (Manuel Prieto); granddaughter, Jordan Bias (Jacob Bias); grandson, Ryan Prieto; and brother, Dennis Ferguson (Kerry). He is also survived by his former wife of 50 years, Jane Clagg.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Forest Clagg, Jack Clagg, and Michael Ferguson.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2026, at Hoening & Son Funeral Home, 133 West Tiffin Street, Fostoria. A committal service with military honors will follow at Fostoria Fountain Cemetery Veterans Chapel, 702 Van Buren Street.
