Fremont - Sherry D. (Cox) Emrick, age 78, of
Fremont, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026.
Sherry was born on February 1, 1948 in
Altoona, Pennsylvania to the late Paul and Eleanor (Walker) Cox.
She was a long time resident of Fort Myers Beach, surviving Hurricane Ian, returning to Fremont in 2022.
Sherry worked in banking and was a business owner in Angola. Her spunky, no nonsense personality made a life well lived. She enjoyed sunshine and warm weather, being on the lake, socializing and spending time with family and friends. She always had encouraging words for anyone willing to listen. According to her oldest Granddaughter she was the "cool" Grandma! She was always dolled up and ready for the next adventure. She was immensely proud of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and was a dog lover her whole life.
Survivors include her children, Matt (Jayma) Emrick of Columbia City, Indiana, Chad (Wanda) Emrick of
Fremont, Indiana, Tiffany (Brandon) Hamilton of
Fremont, Indiana, Lisa (Terry) Hamlin of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Tara Myers of Fort Wayne, Indiana, grandchildren, Gage (Avery) Emrick, Brice (Sherry) Emrick, Chelsea (John) Landis, Whitney (Cole) Maddux, Donte Matthews, Crystal Matthews, Max Hamilton and Ava Hamilton, great-grandchildren, Leo Hayes Maddux and Eloise Drew Maddux, sister, Sue Drotar of Fort Wayne, Indiana, brothers, Mark (Jealean) Cox of Fort Wayne, Indiana and David (Sheryl) Cox of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and her companion dog, Chito.
She was also preceded in death by her longtime companion, Larry Myers and brothers, Gene Cox and Bill Cox.
A visitation will be held from 4 pm until 7 pm Friday, February 27, 2026 at Beams Funeral Home,
Fremont, Indiana.
