Ruth E. Burns

Ruth E. Burns, 89, of Fostoria, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.

She was born Oct. 17, 1933, in Minford, to Arby and Alice (Wells) Childers. She married William Castle and they later divorced. She then married Boyd H. Burns on June 12, 1978, in Wayne, and he passed away.

She is survived by her son, Steven (Penny "Kandi") Castle of Findlay; grandchildren, twins Jason and Steven Castle Jr., and Misty (Derrick) Rader; and great-grandchildren, Alexis, Arianna, and twins Ella and Brie Rader.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Don, Roy, Oscar, and Melvin Childers; and sisters, Louise Haney, Carrie Conley, and Marie "Dimple" Castle.

Ruth work for Williams Shoe factory and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Fostoria. Ruth grew up on a farm, helping with all the animals and helped her mother canning vegetables from the garden. Ruth loved to travel, read, word searches, and eat ice cream. She also loved spending time with her family and friends.

The Burns family would like to thank Good Shepherd Home and Ohio Living Hospice for the care they gave Ruth.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. A celebration of life and burial will take place in Portsmouth at a later date.
