Rodney Reiter Obituary
Rodney N. Reiter, 80, and Bette J. (Solarik) Reiter, 75, of Fostoria, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023.
Rodney was born June 29, 1942, in Fostoria, to the late Neile C. and Lucille (Evenbeck) Reiter. Bette was born Sept. 14, 1947, in Bowling Green, to the late William and Lois (Boyer) Solarik.
Rodney and Bette were married June 8, 1973, at High Street United Methodist Church, Fostoria.
They are survived by a daughter, Geana (Stephen) Ritterbach of Sandusky; son, Rodan (Staci) Reiter of Fostoria; grandchildren, Skyler Eversole and Brody and Benson Reiter; great-grandson, Chevelle Eversole; Rodney's sister, Ruthanne (Gordon) Johnson of London, Ohio; Bette's sister, Linda (Dan) Snow of Bowling Green; sister-in-law, Sue Solarik of Cygnet; and special cousin, Charlene Shultz of Fostoria. Bette was preceded in death by a brother, William Solarik Jr.
Rodney was a 1960 graduate of Fostoria High School, earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Findlay College and then served in U.S. Army. He retired from the former Autolite, Fostoria, after 47 years of service. He currently worked in maintenance at the YMCA for the past 36 years.
Rodney was a member of High Street United Methodist Church and Fostoria American Legion. Rodney was a faithful servant to his family, church and YMCA, always putting others before himself. He was dedicated, hard-working, patient, and passionate about classic cars, racquetball, fishing, and golf.
Bette was a 1965 graduate of Elmwood High School and earned an associate's degree in Business Administration from Davis College, Toledo. She was a homemaker and worked at the former Gray Printing, Firelands Mental Health, and Fostoria ProMedica Hospital. She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church and will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, everyone's cheerleader, and active at the YMCA.
Visitation will be 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2023, at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44830.
Their funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023, at High Street United Methodist Church, 243 W. High St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44830. Burial will follow at Weaver Cemetery, Bloom Twp., with military honors provided for Rodney's faithful service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Fostoria Geary YMCA, Fostoria Boy Scouts of America, High Street United Methodist Church, or Fostoria United Veterans Honor Guard in care of the funeral home.

Condolence to the Rodney and Bette extended family and their circle of friends. I have many fond memories growing up with Rodney: Boy Scout Troop 455, our becoming Eagle Scouts together, our chemistry project ... our Sunday afternoon football games at the North foot of the South Street underpass. Thank you for a life well lived. I embrace all of you with prayers, blessings and positive thoughts.

So sorry to hear this. I´ve only known Rodney a short while working with him and the boilers at the Geary Family YMCA. I really looked forward to my monthly service visits and our conversations about our families and their rich histories. He will be deeply missed.
