Roberta L. "Bobbi" Hays

Roberta L. "Bobbi" Hays, 80, of Kansas, Ohio went off to heaven peacefully surrounded by her family Oct. 15, 2024, at Independence House, Fostoria.

She was born in Burgoon, May 6, 1944, to Vernon and Phyliss (Jacobs) Sommers. She met the love of her life Leo "Boots" Hays in 1963, and they married on Aug. 15, 1972, in Bay View, Ohio.

Those who are left to cherish her memory are her husband, Leo Hays of Kansas; children, Margie Hays of Bucyrus, Leo Hays Jr. of Bettsville, Tineke (Dave) Heilman of Kansas; brother, Arthur (Janet) Sommers of Williamsburg, Virginia; 10 grandchildren, Tyler Maenle, Jordan (Arianna) DePew, Jake Heilman , Molly Heilman, Carrie (Paul) Brizzi, Tessa (Scotty) Anderson, Dean (Alycia) Ball, James Carlson, Timothy (Renee) Carlson, Candilyn (Jon) Young; 19 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, John Weber of Indianapolis, Indiana, Paul (Sandra) Hays of Fostoria; two sisters-in-law, Dorie Hays of Fostoria, Marsha Hays of Girard; and countless other family and friends.

Bobbi was welcomed to heaven by her parents; a daughter Rebecca Carlson, a brother, George Sommers; two sisters Gail Payne, Jeanie Weber; a grandson, Daniel Preble; parent-in-laws Edna and Myron Hays; three brothers-in-law, Roger Hays, Thomas Hays, and Gilbert Bintz; two sisters-in-law, Janice Hays and Patricia Bintz.

Bobbi was a 1962 Bettsville High School graduate. She was a stay home mom until her youngest went to school then she went to work at Copeland in Fostoria. Once that factory closed, she then went on to obtain her associate's degree in Applies Business/Computer Programing from Terra State Community College in 1986. Using this degree, she received a job at Ag Credit in Fostoria, where she worked for 21 years until her retirement in 2007.

Bobbi's life was her family. She and Boots helped her parents and brother George in their lasts years along with being there for grandchildren and spending many holidays with as many family members as they could gather. They enjoyed vacationing by driving around the United States and camping in a comfortable camper.

In her quiet moments Bobbi liked to read, macramé, ceramics, cake decorating, scrapbooking, making beautiful cards, and crocheting. She and Boots attended Fremont Church of the Nazarene. Bobbi was kind, smart, giving, welcoming, and encouraged her family to be their best.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Independence House, Fostoria for taking wonderful care of her, with special thanks to her Nurses Melissa and Monica.

A memorial service will be at 12 p.m. Oct. 26, 2024, at Fremont Church of the Nazarene,1925 Fifth St. Fremont, Ohio, 43420 with Pastor Dan Vickey officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, 419-447-3113.

In Lieu of flowers the family memorials may be made to the Fremont Church of the Nazarene or the Alzheimer's Association in Bobbi's name.
