Robert Frias Obituary

Robert "Bob" Frias

Robert "Bob" Frias, 80, of Fostoria, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay. He was born August 15, 1945, in Tiffin, to Eulogio "Logi" Frias and Betty Parkins. He married Jane Faeth, October 24, 1969, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jane Frias of Fostoria; son, Chad (Stacey) Frias of Hilliard; daughter, Jodi (Mark) Rutherford of Bellevue; grandchildren, Brandon Saldusky, Brady Rutherford, Gabriella and Roman Frias; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh May and Avery Ellen Saldusky; siblings, Joya (Doug) Turpin, Jani Parkins, Marta (Donovan) Lonsway, and Chris Frias; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and stepparents, James Parkins and Bea Frias.

He was a 1963 graduate of Fostoria High School and was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1965-1967, and was a medic during his tour in Vietnam. Bob retired from General Dynamics (Lima Tank Plant) and Chrysler in Perrysburg. He also worked as a sales rep. for WFOB after his retirement. He was a member of Fostoria Athletic Boosters, where he was a 50-plus-year member and three-time past president. He was also a member of VFW, American Legion, AMVETS, Moose and Fostoria Browns Backers. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball and made many life-long friends doing so. Bob enjoyed hunting with his longtime friends, and they shared many stories about those trips repeatedly. He also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in their sporting activities and coached American Legion Baseball. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians (Guardians) and Cleveland Browns fan and loved collecting their memorabilia. He also loved to travel with his friends and family and enjoyed his many trips to Dominican Republic, Mexico, Florida, and Buckeye Cruise.

Memorial services will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, November 7, 202, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with Deacon Paul Feasel officiating. Burial will be at St. Wendelin Cemetery, Fostoria, where military honors will be performed by United Veterans of Fostoria. Bob was a special guy in this complicated world we live in today. He was one of the best baseball players Fostoria ever produced. Bob loved Fostoria athletics, his Family and his friends. Bob never engaged in a controversial discussion. He was a mediator rather than antagonist. Bobby was colorblind and impartial when people around him were taking sides. He was nonjudgmental, respectful and patient with others. Lastly his dedication and service to student athletes in both our high schools remains unmatched through his fifty year association with the Athletic Boosters! Our condolences to Jane, Jodi and Chad. Bob will be missed but we will always remember him.
Respectfully,
Pat, Sean and Mike Sterling
