Ralph Hummel Obituary
Ralph E. Hummel, 95, of Bloomdale, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 3, 1929, in Bloomdale, to George and Margaret (Shaffer) Hummel. He married Betty M. Basehore on June 12, 1948, in Fostoria.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 76 years, Betty; children, Linda Hummel of Fostoria, Barbara (Kirk) Shank of Tontogany, John (Jean) Hummel of Arcadia, and Terry (Lori) Hummel of Bloomdale; son-in-law, Jeff Casey of Cygnet; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret; son, James Hummel; daughter, Debra Casey; and sisters, Pauline (Bill) Hornkohl and Eleanor (Earl) Gooch.
Ralph was a 1947 graduate of Fostoria High School. He was a lifelong farmer and worked for many years at Autolite in Fostoria. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church, Knights of Pythias in Bloomdale, Fostoria Senior Center, and UAW #533 in Fostoria. He enjoyed playing euchre and spending time with family and friends.
Visitation for friends will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2024, until the time of Ralph's celebration of life service at 11 a.m. at Barndt Funeral Home, Wayne. Burial will be at Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria, with a bereavement luncheon to follow back at K of P Lodge in Bloomdale.
Memorial donations may be made to Union United Methodist Church or Bridge Home Health & Hospice.
