Penelope A. "Penny" Sears

Penelope A. "Penny" Sears, 84, of Fostoria, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.

She was born July 25, 1941, in Buffalo, New York, to the late Gardiner and Elizabeth (Kane) Gregg. She married Thomas R. Sears, and he preceded her in death February 18, 2019.

Surviving are five children, David (Bonnie) Braun, Arlington, Michael (Nora) Braun, Fostoria, Deborah Spero, Rocky River, Timothy (Debbie) Braun, Fostoria and Melissa (Andre) Wadley, Georgia; four grandchildren, Tyler, Olivia, Casin and Alexandra; five great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Patti) Gregg, Fostoria; and a sister-in-law, Marie Gregg, Fostoria.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Edward Gregg.

Penny worked as a nurse at Dr. Bello's, Good Shepherd Home, and St. Catherine's Manor. She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria Kiwanis Club, Fostoria Women's Club and former Elks Club. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her dog, Buddy.

Memorial visitation is 11 a.m. – noon Friday, October 31, 2025, at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio 44830, where memorial service will begin at noon with Deacon Dave Schiefer presiding. Following memorial service, there will be a funeral luncheon in the funeral home's reception area. Burial will be at Georgia National Cemetery.
