Nancy L. Monasmith

Nancy L. Monasmith, 91, of Fostoria, passed away at 6:40 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.

She was born December 24, 1933, in Bowling Green, to the late William G. "Barney" and Lillian A. (Miller) Long. She married Thomas L. Monasmith, June 25, 1953, at Bloomdale United Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death April 14, 2021.

Nancy was a graduate of Bloomdale High School and attended Bowling Green State University for a short time. She was a homemaker and secretary for National Carbon and Dr. Nick Kentris. Nancy was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, having served on many committees over the years.

Nancy enjoyed crafts, calligraphy, making cards for family and friends' special occasions, duplicate bridge, ACBL life master, gardening and Fostoria Antique Club. She loved to play jokes on people; she was the Bloomdale April Fool Queen. She loved cheering on the Bloomdale Bulldogs and, after moving to Fostoria, the Redmen. Tom and Nancy attended all the games.

Nancy had a wonderful, wonderful life. Nancy said, "I tried to be normal once, but it was the worst two minutes of my life." She had affection for animals-except mice! She loved living in Fostoria and Bloomdale and adored her family and friends.

Surviving are a son, Thomas L. Monasmith Jr., Fostoria; daughter, Mary E. (Mark) Mason, Toledo; granddaughters, Sirena (Patrick) Kitz and Samantha (Kyle) Denihan; great-grandson, James Kitz; and grand pet, Henry.

She was also preceded in death by brother, William F. (Jean) Long and sister, Ruth (Selb) Selby.

Visitation is from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025, at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, OH 44830.

Public memorial service is 11 a.m. Friday, October 31, 2025, at Wesley United Methodist Church, Fostoria, with a luncheon following in the parish hall.

Private family burial will take place at Weaver Cemetery before memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Wesley United Methodist Church, Good Shepherd Home or a charity of donor's choice.
